Join Kate and Alex for a 2 day (4 sessions) workshop to dedicate time to acknowledge the past year & move towards the new with insight and intention.
TEACHERS
Alex Jordan is a Dance Movement Therapist (professionally registered with DTAA), also trained in trauma-informed yoga facilitation, Body-Mind Centering, and Narrative therapy.
She currently works as a general and high school counselor and offers private dance therapy sessions and community-based dance workshops. Alex has a strong background in working with diverse communities locally and internationally to understand the role trauma plays in our histories and lives and the way it is stored in the body.
She has practiced yoga for around 20 years and her work is strongly supported by yoga philosophies and other mindfulness-based practices. She also has a long background in improvised and community dance and looks forward to moving, sensing, and breathing with you.
Kate Roseth is a certified Iyengar yoga teacher, with 20 years of practice experience and 10 years of teaching. Kate’s recent back injury has bought the practice of restorative yoga, pranayama (breath works), meditation, and yoga philosophy to the forefront of her practice.
She is excited to share with your a practice that guides us to listen deeply to ourselves to bring us closer to health.
Restorative yoga postures are held for a long duration but with support so that the body can bring full rest to the parasympathetic nervous system to restore it. Pranayama and meditation bring our focus to the breath to reduce stress and anxiety, while the yoga philosophy weaves it all together.
WORKSHOP
This two-day workshop will offer dedicated space to rest, move, and reflect. Our focus will be taking time to listen deeply to what is present for us at this time of transition.
On Day #1, we journey gently into our inner landscape, taking time to listen to the mind of our body and to what we are carrying from one year to the next. We recognize and celebrate areas of truth and growth, as well as listen with tenderness to parts that feel stuck.
Practices will include active movement incorporating asana, and guided dance, and a body mapping process using self-touch, sound, and visualization. We will explore attitudes of gratitude and forgiveness, as well as the concept of coming home.
On Day #2, we focus on cultivating an attitude of spaciousness, in body and mind; making space for vision and seeding intentions for the new year. We challenge old worn-out resolutions and bring curiosity to discovering what is truly nurturing for each of us right now.
Practices will include sensing through touch, movement, and breath; visualization and journaling, and movement exploring different dynamics and approaches that will nurture our vision, and bring intention into action.
In each workshop, time will be provided for creative journaling, or integration using meditation or movement.
Sessions may not be attended individually, we have a single booking price of $160 for the entire 4 session workshop. The morning sessions are 2hrs from 9.30-11.30am with Alex and the afternoon sessions are 1.5hrs from 4-5.30pm with Kate
