An in-depth discussion to deepen your understanding of Doshic theory (mind/body type) as it relates to your yoga practice
Agoy yoga is excited to offer an afternoon to deepen our wisdom through yoga and Ayurveda with Ros Consoli. Ayurveda is often called the sister science to yoga, but they are not separate. They come from the same origins and inform each other.
Yoga is about union or connection with mind, body, and spirit, ultimately helping us to understand the truth of who we really are. Although we see yoga as a physical activity, it ultimately is all about the mind. Ayurveda is the science of life including not just living a healthy balanced life through diet and lifestyle, but also living a life that is meaningful and with purpose.
Ayurveda is a science that gives us a lens to view the world and everything in it through the concept of dosha. The three dosha are Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. They are made up of combinations of the five elements: ether, air, fire, water, and earth. By understanding dosha, we can understand how to recognise imbalance in our being and recognise how we can make choices to bring balance back to find longevity and wellness.
This workshop will be focusing on Ayurveda and how we can find balance in our body and mind through our yoga practice, and then we will move into a workshop to unpack doshic theory and how it relates to our yoga practices, and how we can make choices within our practice to balance our individual doshic states.
The Practice – Traditional Yoga Practice as taught to me from my Ayurveda teacher Dr Vasant Lad. This practice is balancing for all 3 dosha:
Pranayama practices – breath control / restraint
Asana – postures
Mantra
Meditation
